Meet Emma with 'Encounter at Jacob's Well'
Meet Emma:
The artist behind 'Encounter at Jacob's Well'. Emma lives in Maine where she strives to love and serve Jesus the best that she can. She enjoys baking keto cakes, sewing, painting on her ipad and making friends with the wildlife animals around her.
My first portrait: St. Joseph. The year of St. Joseph and consecration to St. Joseph through Fr. Don Calloway's book really helped me to fall in love with St. Joseph. I wanted to create an image where when you look at it, you felt loved by him as your own adopted father.
Why 'Encounter at Jacob's Well'?
I love the “Encounters” at Jacob’s Well because each Bible story is about a new life beginning and an old one being put away. Both encounters are about invitation to a greater love, to a new covenant with God. I especially love the Samaritan woman, who in Christian tradition is known as St. Photina because after she met Jesus, her whole life changed for the better. She shouted ““Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” At first for someone to be happy about having their sins come into the open might not sound like a fun thing, but she’s glad and joyful and wants everyone to know because His love healed the wounds of her heart, instantly. That’s how powerful God’s love is for us when we let Him “encounter” us in our brokenness, pain and hurt. He’s there to love us to new life, because He wants us to have eternal life with Him in Heaven. So I’m just in love with all of Jesus’ healing love at Jacob’s Well and I pray that this store can be a tool in Jesus’ hand to bring greater hope, joy, love and healing through my artwork, as God sees fit.
